Informed and well-researched policy making in the field of climate change can have a significant impact on the environment and human health.
Climate change is a phenomenon which can adversely impact the progress in global health which has been achieved over the past several decades through threatening the vital ingredients of good health such as clean air and water, food supply and safe shelter.
Major contributors to both climate change and air pollution are greenhouse gas emissions which come from the extraction and burning of fossil fuels. That is why informed and well-researched policies to reduce air pollution are beneficial both for the climate and human health. National and global measures and policies on the use of transport, food and energy can significantly impact the reduction of air pollution and produce health benefits.
How we can help:
o Conducting data management and modeling of health impact effects of environmental and climate change
o Developing a method for Economic Evaluation Assessment or Air Pollutions and Climate Change and quantifying health care costs (e.g., hospitalizations, medications), direct non-health care costs (e.g., social services, childcare). Including collection, analyzing and interpretation of qualitative, quantitative and monetary evidence to assess both financial and social implications of action or inaction.
o Designing policy instruments such as habitat banking, biodiversity offsets, tradeable permits, green taxes and voluntary agreements
o Grant and portfolio health management and air Pollutions and climate change financing modeling and analysis
o Health Technology Assessment (HTA) of interventions and devices
o Health Economic Evaluation (CEA, CEU, CBA, etc.), VfM analysis and Optimization Analysis
o Technical and Allocative Effectiveness Analysis and air Pollutions and climate Change Impact Assessment, Attribution and Contribution analysis
o Conduct scoping and systematic reviews and research in this area
